Two Men in Town

(1973)Directed by José Giovanni99 minCrime, Drama

In France in 1973, Gino Strabliggi (Alain Delon) walks out of prison after ten years for bank robbery, hoping to start over. Germain Cazeneuve (Jean Gabin), the probation officer who takes up his case, helps him find work, while Commissioner Goitreau (Michel Bouquet), the cop who put him away, keeps showing up. José Giovanni films it in grainy daylight, and Gino stands in the street with his release papers in hand, the same man the police remember.
