(1932)Directed by Mervyn LeRoy67 minDrama, Crime
“HIS LIFE WAS A LIVING HELL until he killed the thing that Crushed him!”

John Allen (Edward G. Robinson) is a high-rise riveter who marries Shirley Day (Vivienne Osborne), a dancehall girl who wants a man to live off. Mervyn LeRoy tells it in flashback from the death chamber, where Allen is strapped into the electric chair, the executioner's hand near the switch. The marriage is already going bad, and the film gives him two seconds to remember how he got there.
