“Heroes are ordinary men who do extraordinary things in extraordinary times.”

It is the middle of the Second World War, and the Allies are losing the fight under the water because the Germans' coded messages cannot be read. A crippled U-boat sends out an SOS, and Lt. Andrew Tyler (Matthew McConaughey) and his crew under Lt. Cmdr. Mike Dahlgren (Bill Paxton) get a chance to board her and take the Enigma machine. Jonathan Mostow sets the mission in steel compartments, where one lost message can decide what a whole war costs.
