Ugetsu

Genjurô (Masayuki Mori), a potter in 16th century Japan, wants money, and the soldiers passing through a nearby village will pay for his earthenware even though a local sage warns against profiting from war. His neighbor Tôbei (Eitarō Ozawa) wants to be a samurai, and their wives Miyagi (Kinuyo Tanaka) and Ohama (Mitsuko Mito) are left standing in the path. Kenji Mizoguchi lets the camera drift along shorelines and through rooms in long, unhurried takes.
