“As Seen by the Rest”

Richie (Rakshit Shetty) is a young man in Malpe, a fishing town on the Arabian coast, where the sea washes the beaches clean every day and still can't carry everything away. It is Krishna Janmaashtami, and Udupi's streets fill with men and children in mythological costume, painted tiger dancers moving to drumbeats. Rakshit Shetty's debut sets violence moving beneath the festival, and Munna (Kishore) and Ratnakka (Tara) walk the same sand the waves keep scouring.
