Ten years after the fall of Troy, Ulysses (Kirk Douglas) has still not reached Ithaca, and nobody on the island can say what keeps him away. Mario Camerini follows his long voyage through the Mediterranean while Penelope (Silvana Mangano) holds off Antinous (Anthony Quinn) and the other suitors at home. Under the sea monsters and the sorceress Circe, a man simply wants to get back to his wife, his island and his own name.
