Umrao Jaan

Ameeran, later known as Umrao Jaan (Aishwarya Rai Bachchan), is raised in the house of Khanum Jaan (Shabana Azmi), where she learns poetry, dance and song to become a celebrated courtesan. J. P. Dutta adapts the Urdu novel Umrao Jaan Ada as a period musical, a remake of Muzaffar Ali's 1981 film. Her path crosses with Nawab Sultan (Abhishek Bachchan), and what grows between them is wanted by both and allowed to neither.
