“Are you ready for the truth?”

A commuter train derails near Philadelphia, and David Dunn (Bruce Willis) walks away without a scratch. Elijah Price (Samuel L. Jackson), a comic book dealer with a brittle bone condition, contacts David with a theory about superhuman resistance. As David begins to test what his body can do, he realizes that the most dangerous discovery is learning what you're capable of, and that knowledge itself can be a cage.
