“Seven men with one thing in common...”

Col. Cal Rhodes (Gene Hackman) is a retired Marine who has spent years refusing to believe his son is dead, convinced he is still held prisoner in Laos after the war. Ted Kotcheff follows him as he gathers a crew of veterans, among them Wilkes (Fred Ward) and Kevin Scott (Patrick Swayze), to go in themselves. With no government behind them, every man on the team is risking his life, and Rhodes may be walking them toward the same fate.
