Under the Open Sky

Mikami Masao (Koji Yakusho) walks out of prison in Japan after thirteen years for murder, a middle-aged former yakuza with almost nothing waiting for him. He applies to a TV show hoping to find the mother he was separated from as a child, which brings him to the young director Tsunoda (Taiga Nakano). The film is about how hard it is to live among people once the habits and stubborn pride of the old life have settled in.
