Under the Tree

“Two Families. One Tree. A Bloody Mess.”

A shadow from one backyard tree falls across the neighbors' sundeck, and the complaint arrives like any other in this Icelandic suburb. Baldvin (Sigurður Sigurjónsson) and Inga (Edda Björgvinsdóttir) won't give an inch, and Hafsteinn Gunnar Sigurðsson holds the camera still while two households dig in over a few feet of shade. What neither side sees is how much more than a tree they are putting on the line.
