Under the Volcano

“One cannot live without love.”

Geoffrey Firmin (Albert Finney), a British consul in a small southern Mexican town in 1939, wants only to keep drinking, and he is very good at it. His ex-wife Yvonne (Jacqueline Bisset) has come back hoping to mend the marriage, and his half-brother Hugh (Anthony Andrews) watches in worry. John Huston follows one Day of the Dead, with war breaking out in Europe, and Geoffrey stays on his feet through all of it.
