Underwater Love

Asuka (Asuka Kawaguchi) is 35 and works in a lakeside fish factory, engaged to Taki (Hajime Taki), the man who runs the place. Then she meets a kappa, the water sprite of Japanese folklore, and learns it is the reborn Aoki (Tetsuya Aoki), the boy she loved at 17 who drowned. Shinji Imaoka stages this as a pink film musical, with Stereo Total's songs and Christopher Doyle's camera, about a first love that death did not finish.
