At an inner-city high school in Chicago, Samantha Abbott (Cobie Smulders) teaches science and learns she is pregnant, just as the school year's most promising student, Jasmine (Gail Bean), learns the same about herself. Kris Rey follows the two as they swap plans for the future across classroom desks and school corridors. Samantha is left holding a pregnancy test, her new future waiting on the other side of it.
