“Every dream has its own rules”

Jules Rimet (Gérard Depardieu) is determined to start a tournament where nations meet on a football pitch, and he sets about convincing the doubters. Frédéric Auburtin follows him through the twentieth century, with Joao Havelange (Sam Neill) and Sepp Blatter (Tim Roth) taking up the cause in turn. Annette Rimet (Jemima West) watches her father work, and the film leaves Rimet at his desk, the great idea still just a plan.
