Vagabond

Mona Bergeron (Sandrine Bonnaire) is a young drifter who wants nothing from anyone, and she says so to whoever lets her sleep in a barn or a spare room. Agnès Varda opens on her frozen body in a ditch in the French countryside, then backs up through the last winter of her wandering in the Languedoc-Roussillon wine country. Each odd job and each borrowed bed keeps her free a little longer, and she sleeps outside more often as the cold sets in.
