Julie Richman (Jessica Rothe) is a girl from the Valley in the early 1980s, happiest with her trendy friends Stacey (Jessie Ennis), Loryn (Ashleigh Murray) and Karen (Chloe Bennet). Then she meets Randy (Josh Whitehouse), a punk from the city, and Rachel Lee Goldenberg sets their romance to a new wave soundtrack. Julie has to decide whether love can survive the friends who think he doesn't belong in her world.
