Van Diemen's Land

“Hunger is a strange silence”

In 1822, Van Diemen's Land is the penal settlement at the end of the earth, where convicts banished from home are sent to Sarah Island. Alexander Pearce (Oscar Redding) breaks out with seven other prisoners and walks into the Tasmanian bush. Jonathan auf der Heide gives Pearce an Irish voice-over, and the further he goes from the settlement, the less of himself he seems to carry.
