Vengeance Is Mine

“Living only for today — for pleasure. A killer who gets what he wants — including death.”

Iwao Enokizu (Ken Ogata) is a thief, a murderer and a charming talker on the run from the police, and the film opens on a crime already done and his arrest. Shōhei Imamura, working from Ryūzō Saki's book on the real case of Akira Nishiguchi, follows the manhunt while looking back at the life that made him. He never explains why a man so easy to like could kill with no visible feeling.
