“Alfred Hitchcock engulfs you in a whirlpool of terror and tension!”

A police chase across the San Francisco rooftops ends with a man dead and Scottie Ferguson (James Stewart) retired, his fear of heights now a condition he cannot hide. An old friend, Gavin Elster (Tom Helmore), asks him to follow his wife, Madeleine (Kim Novak), whose strange behavior has begun to frighten him. Hitchcock keeps Scottie close behind her car through the hills, and what begins as a job becomes a need to be near her.
