Victor/Victoria

(1982)Directed by Blake Edwards134 min · PGMusic, Comedy, Romance
“The disguise surprise comedy of the year!”

Broke and hungry in Paris, soprano Victoria Grant (Julie Andrews) lets the nightclub singer Toddy (Robert Preston) pass her off as Count Victor Grazinsky, a woman who performs as a man. The act is a sensation, and then King Marchand (James Garner), a Chicago club owner who has come to Paris, sees the show and cannot make up his mind about what he saw. Blake Edwards builds the comedy on one plain idea, that a person is whoever they have the nerve to be on stage.
