Chile in the mid-twentieth century is where Violeta Parra (Francisca Gavilán) begins, a singer and folklorist whose songs, memories, loves and hopes the film gathers into one portrait. Andrés Wood moves between her work and the people in her life, among them her sister Hilda (Gabriela Aguilera) and the Swiss musician Gilbert Favre (Thomas Durand). Her art and the people she loves keep pulling against each other, and she risks more of herself with every song.
