Violette

Violette Leduc (Emmanuelle Devos), born out of wedlock and writing in postwar Saint-Germain-des-Près, wants to be free, and she believes writing is the only way there. She meets Simone de Beauvoir (Sandrine Kiberlain), who is convinced she is looking at an extraordinary writer. Martin Provost follows what grows between the two women over a lifetime, one needing to be read and the other unable to look away.
