“Life on earth is in for a shock.”

Kelly Foster (Jamie Lee Curtis) and the crew of an American tugboat want one thing: to keep their battered ship afloat and their salvage claim alive. Captain Robert Everton (Donald Sutherland) gets that chance when they board an abandoned Russian research vessel, with Steve Baker (William Baldwin) close behind. John Bruno, a visual effects man by trade, fills the empty corridors with machinery, and Kelly has to decide how far she'll go to get her crew off alive.
