Vitalina Varela

Vitalina Varela arrives in Lisbon from Cape Verde to find her husband already dead and buried, with only a few scattered traces of the life he kept from her. Pedro Costa follows her through the dark streets and narrow rooms where he lived, as she goes looking for who he was. The film is about what a long marriage leaves behind when one person never told the other everything.
