Viva Maria!

(1965)Directed by Louis Malle120 minAdventure, Comedy, Romance, Western
“The world will never forget the two heroines who charged into battle undaunted, unafraid, and… undressed!”

Maria II (Jeanne Moreau) is the daughter of an Irish terrorist, and when her father dies in Central America in 1907, all she wants is somewhere to belong. She finds it with the circus and with Maria I (Brigitte Bardot), a fellow performer, and Louis Malle sends the two women through a revolution in Pierre Cardin costumes. Same first name, different temperaments, one act on stage: the film is what grows between them.
