Von Ryan's Express

In 1943, Colonel Joseph L. Ryan (Frank Sinatra), an American pilot, is dropped into an Italian prison camp full of British prisoners, and Major Eric Fincham (Trevor Howard) doesn't care for the new senior officer. Mark Robson sets the story among the camp's cramped huts and then onto a freight train full of Allied prisoners, rolling north through occupied Italy toward Switzerland. Ryan has to turn a distrustful group of men into soldiers who will follow his orders.
