“A twenty-first century portrait.”

In 1999, two teenage sisters, Celeste and Eleanor (Stacy Martin), survive a violent tragedy, then write a song about it that turns Celeste into a star. Raffey Cassidy plays her younger self and her daughter, so the same face runs through both years.
