Voyage to Cythera

Spyros (Manos Katrakis) is an old communist who comes back to Greece after thirty-two years in the Soviet Union, and wants only to be let into the place he left. The country he finds has no use for what he fought for, and his family, among them Voula (Mairi Hronopoulou) and Antonis (Dionysis Papagiannopoulos), meet him as a stranger. Angelopoulos films it in long, slow takes that keep Spyros small inside the frame.
