Vysotsky: Thank You For Being Alive

(2011)Directed by Pyotr Buslov127 minDrama

Vladimir Vysotsky (Sergey Bezrukov) is a poet, singer and actor adored across the Soviet Union, and in the summer of 1980 he is forty-two and wants one more stretch of life with the woman he loves. The screenplay comes from his son Nikita, built on what a family friend passed down about those last weeks. Pyotr Buslov films it in Moscow during the Olympic Games, with Bezrukov disguised by makeup and CGI so that the singer's face is the only one on screen.
