“A life misunderestimated.”

In the White House, George W. Bush (Josh Brolin) and his advisers, among them Karl Rove (Toby Jones) and Colin Powell (Jeffrey Wright), argue their way toward a decision about invading Iraq. Oliver Stone cuts between those meetings and the earlier years, when Bush drank, drifted, found his wife and found his faith. Underneath it all sits a son trying to measure up to a father, and the film keeps coming back to that.
