“What would your life be without you?”

In a quiet suburban house, Howard Wakefield (Bryan Cranston) climbs into the attic above the garage and does not come back down. His wife Diana (Jennifer Garner) and their daughters carry on below him, and he watches through the window. Robin Swicord adapts E. L. Doctorow's story, and what the film considers is how easily a marriage can be left, and how long it takes to notice you're gone.
