Walkabout

“A boy and girl face the challenge of the world's last frontier.”

A man drives his teenage daughter (Jenny Agutter) and small son (Luc Roeg) out of the city for a picnic, and by evening they are alone in the Australian outback with no car and very little water. A teenage Aboriginal boy (David Gulpilil) finds them and shows them where to look for food. Nicolas Roeg sets the girl and the boy side by side, two people who share no language and watch each other across the heat and the silence.
