Buford Pusser (Bo Svenson) is a sheriff who has already lost his wife to the mob, and he answers by blowing up their moonshine operation. The syndicate sends two hitmen after him, a race car driver and a gunslinger, and Earl Bellamy keeps the sheriff's office and the back roads rough and close. Svenson stands in the dust of the wrecked still, the stick in his hand and the town still behind him.
