War

The Second Chechen War is underway when rebels take four people hostage: Ivan (Aleksey Chadov) and Captain Medvedev (Sergei Bodrov Jr.), two Russian soldiers, and a British couple, John (Ian Kelly) and Margaret (Ingeborga Dapkūnaitė). Aleksei Balabanov has two of them sent off to raise the ransom money. The others stay behind in captivity, with Margaret waiting and no guarantee anyone returns.
