War and Peace, Part II: Natasha Rostova

Natasha Rostova (Ludmila Savelyeva) is a young countess who attends her first ball as 1809 draws to a close. There, Prince Andrei Bolkonsky (Vyacheslav Tikhonov) falls for her and means to marry, but her father insists they wait a year. Sergei Bondarchuk, who also plays Pierre Bezukhov, keeps the film on Natasha through the long months of that waiting, a girl at a window while Andrei is away abroad.
