War of the Buttons

“The French Resistance came in all shapes and sizes.”

Lebrac (Jean Texier) leads one of two rival gangs of village boys in occupied France, and the war between them is a game, fought over territory and pride. Christophe Barratier sets their feud against the real one around them, where Lebrac's feelings for a Jewish girl put her in danger from the local Nazi sympathisers. Lebrac, Petit Bibus (Clément Godefroy) and the rest are still boys, standing in a field they thought was only theirs.
