War of the Worlds

“They're already here.”

Ray (Tom Cruise), a dock worker estranged from his two children, has them for the weekend when the sky cracks open and massive machines rise from underground, vaporizing everything in their path. He grabs his daughter Rachel (Dakota Fanning) and son Robbie (Justin Chatwin) and runs toward safety. By the end Ray has lost nearly everything that held him to his old life, and what remains is bound only to his children.
