“Modern man. Science has given him the ultimate power to create new forms of life. But with that power comes overwhelming responsibility...and danger.”

Cal Morse (Sam Waterston), a security chief at a secret government biological weapons lab, wants to get through his shift and go home to his wife. Then an accident spreads a dangerous bacteria through the building, and Major Connolly (Yaphet Kotto) seals the place. Hal Barwood keeps everyone inside with Joanie Morse (Kathleen Quinlan) and Dr. Nielsen (Richard Dysart), and the people trapped there have no way out.
