“Love is patient.”

A tragedy breaks a South Florida family, and the film waits to show how it comes about. Tyler (Kelvin Harrison Jr.), a high school wrestler, trains under his father Ronald (Sterling K. Brown), who pushes both his children hard, until an injury ends Tyler's season and leaves his sister Emily (Taylor Russell) living in the pressure that follows. Trey Edward Shults tracks the family in the aftermath, and Emily has to find a way to speak to the people closest to her.
