We Don't Live Here Anymore

“Why do we want what we can't have?”

Jack Linden (Mark Ruffalo) is a professor who wants a way out of his failing marriage, and he finds one in Edith (Naomi Watts), the wife of his closest friend and colleague, Hank (Peter Krause). Director John Curran, working from Andre Dubus's stories, keeps both couples in each other's kitchens and living rooms. The hardest thing to watch is Jack and his wife Terry (Laura Dern), still sharing a house and a son, and no longer able to talk straight.
