Welcome

“Friendship has no borders. True love has no limits.”

Bilal (Firat Ayverdi), a 17-year-old Kurdish boy from Iraq, has crossed Europe to reach Calais, where the girl he loves now lives in England. The Channel is 32 kilometers wide and he can't swim, so he looks for a teacher and finds Simon (Vincent Lindon), a pool instructor at the local baths. Philippe Lioret films the migrants of Calais at street level, in the same plain light as everything else.
