“You can't put this hero in a box.”

Mark Hogancamp (Steve Carell) was beaten nearly to death and woke with his memories gone, so he builds Marwen, a miniature Belgian village in his yard, and fills it with dolls to photograph. Robert Zemeckis animates those dolls into a squad of women, including GI Julie (Janelle Monáe) and Deja Thoris (Diane Kruger). His neighbor Nicol (Leslie Mann) is one of them, and the real world keeps pressing in on the village he made to hide in.
