“A strangler... A swindler... A safecracker... Yet you'll love them!”

Three convicts get out of the prison on Devil's Island the week before Christmas and head for the nearest French colonial town. They pick the Ducotel family's store, the one shop that gives out supplies on credit, planning to take what they can. Joseph (Humphrey Bogart) and Albert (Aldo Ray) find that the more time they spend around the family, the less they want to rob it.
