“A story of love and revenge in the African jungles!”

Phroso (Lon Chaney) is a stage magician who ends up paralyzed after a brawl with a rival, dragging himself along the ground and answering to the name "Dead-Legs." Tod Browning gives his revenge a target in Crane (Lionel Barrymore), the man who crippled him, and in the daughter Crane fathered with Phroso's wife. The girl, Maizie (Mary Nolan), is the other person in the story, tied to a man who has been waiting years to hurt her.
