West Side Story

On Manhattan's Upper West Side, the Jets, a gang of Polish-American kids, and the Sharks, newly arrived from Puerto Rico, are fighting over the same few blocks. Robert Wise and Jerome Robbins co-direct, and Tony (Richard Beymer) and Maria (Natalie Wood) fall for each other across that line. Anita (Rita Moreno) and Riff (Russ Tamblyn) stand on either side, the street between them.
