“A 20th Century-Fox Encore Hit !”

Someone is cutting the wires before the line can reach the Great Plains, and Edward Creighton (Dean Jagger), who is stringing a telegraph across the country in 1861, needs two new men. One is Vance Shaw (Randolph Scott), a reformed outlaw trying to make good, and the other is Richard Blake (Robert Young), an Eastern surveyor who has never seen this land. Fritz Lang shot it in Technicolor on location in Arizona and Utah, with the colors left strong.
