“Get ready for Helen.”

Helen Memel (Carla Juri) is an eighteen-year-old who treats every taboo as an open invitation, and an intimate shaving accident lands her in a hospital bed. David Wnendt adapts Charlotte Roche's novel with a deadpan eye, so her ward stays comic and queasy at once. There Helen meets a male nurse named Robin (Christoph Letkowski), while she schemes to bring her split-up parents back into one room.
