What Did You Do in the War, Daddy?

An American unit in Italy is ordered to take a strategic village, and the Italian soldiers holding it will surrender on one condition: they get to hold their festival first. Lieutenant Christian (James Coburn) talks Captain Lionel Cash (Dick Shawn), a rigid by-the-book officer, into agreeing, though the whole thing has to look like a battle from the air. Blake Edwards sets the scheme in motion, and Christian ends up having to answer for it.
