“American Punk started with a Germ”

Darby Crash (Shane West) starts a band in 1970s Los Angeles before anyone in it can play, pulling in Pat Smear (Rick Gonzalez), Lorna Doom (Bijou Phillips) and Don Bolles (Noah Segan). Rodger Grossman follows the Germs as they get loud and chaotic, with Crash working to a private five-year plan. Around him stand the people who love him, among them Michelle (Tina Majorino), and he keeps pushing them away.
